MYP INVOLVED IN CHINA AND INDIA COMBINED URBAN RESEARCH WORK CAMP

In Mumbai, India, becoming an international metropolis like Shanghai has always been their political dream. As two cities with many historical parallels, Shanghai and Mumbai have for the past two decades discovered increasingly apparent traces of history imprinted in their urban environment, distinct marks of identity often ignored when importing western development models into Asian cities.

Maintaining the specificity of these Asian cities and making urban transformation more adaptable for the future has become a growing problem. In answer, the China-India Urban Think Tank was formed. This year, teachers and students from the Mumbai University Environment and Architecture Institute, Tongji University School of Design and Innovation, Tongji University School of Architecture and Urban Planning participated in the research and design for the public space of the Yangpu-Dinghai bridge area.

On May 19, a lecture on reclaimed waterfront space was held in the KIC Compound. The event was supported by the China-India Urban Think Tank. During the lecture, Mr. Chang Yu, managing director of MYP, shared with the students the experience of waterfront design in recent years, and discussed the innovative thinking for the regeneration of waterfront spaces.
